LIVING OUR FAITH
At St. Mark’s, our Catholic identity is at the heart of everything we do. From incorporating faith into our academics to monthly Adoration, teaching Masses in our chapel, spiritual retreats, and school-wide Rosaries, we strive to make Christ a living presence in our community. Our dedicated staff continuously seeks ways to inspire and nurture students through the love of Christ.
CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based religious education program that helps children encounter Jesus Christ’s unwavering love through hands-on, experiential learning. Offered once a week for preschool through second grade, classes are led by our trained catechists in a dedicated, sanctuary-like classroom called the Atrium. In this special space, children receive spiritual and liturgical lessons and are then invited to explore the materials independently, engaging with them in a way that is meaningful and personal.
SCHOOL CHAPEL
We are fortunate to have a chapel at the heart of our main school building, fostering a sense of connection among students and staff that resonates throughout the school. Monthly Adoration, staff prayer, feast day celebrations, and special prayer times take place here, offering a peaceful space for reflection and spiritual growth.
RETREATS
Each year, St. Mark’s holds two all-school retreats to celebrate and prepare for Advent and Lent. These retreats give students and staff the opportunity to delve deeper into the meaning of each liturgical season, grow spiritually, and strengthen their connections with one another.
Each middle school grade participates in a retreat designed for their developmental stage.
6th Grade: Before leaving for the week-long McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS), students take part in a short spiritual retreat focused on icebreakers and team-building activities.
7th Grade: The retreat focuses on growing as young men and women of Christ and preparing students to take on leadership roles within the school community.
8th Grade: Students attend an off-site retreat to deepen connections with classmates, strengthen their faith, and prepare for the transition to high school.
